On Tuesday 25 August an aircraft lost fuel on take-off at Charleroi. The airport closed its runway from 19:30 to 20:40, according to Belga, quoted by Paris Match. Ten Ryanair and Wizz Air flights were diverted, and four other aircraft stayed in the air a little longer.
All of them eventually landed at Charleroi, once the runway had been cleaned and inspected.
The airport has only one runway, so an incident there stops all traffic. If you are waiting for someone, a diverted flight may return later that evening, as it did that day. Stay on our page or wait for their message rather than leaving the airport at the first delay shown.
