Charleroi Airport will shut for about eleven weeks in the second half of 2028, between mid-August and late October according to Air Journal. No aircraft will take off or land during that time. Crews will rebuild the single runway, now at the end of its life, along with drainage, lights and markings, 24 hours a day.
Airlines can move flights to Liège or Brussels-Zaventem, or suspend them. Not every route will transfer. The SETCa union is concerned about jobs and whether destinations will return.
